How to Create a Profile That Gets You Shifts
Your profile is your first impression. A complete, honest, and polished profile gets you more matches, better shifts, and higher pay. Here's how to nail it.
Profile Photo
Use a clear, professional headshot
Businesses see your photo before they confirm you for a shift. A well-lit, friendly headshot (shoulders up) makes a strong first impression. No sunglasses, no group shots, no heavy filters.
Show you're approachable
You don't need a studio photo — a clean selfie with good lighting works great. Smile. Look like someone a manager would be happy to see walk through the door.
Keep it current
Your photo should look like you actually look today. If a business confirms you and someone different shows up, that erodes trust immediately.
Skills & Roles
Select every role you can genuinely perform
The matching algorithm uses your skills to find shifts. If you're a solid bartender AND a capable server, list both. More skills = more shift opportunities in your feed.
Be honest about your experience level
It's better to be upfront about being a 1-year barista than to claim 5 years and underdeliver. Businesses rate you after every shift — and inflated experience shows fast.
Highlight specialties
Craft cocktail experience? High-volume brunch service? Latte art? Specific skills make you stand out when businesses browse applicants.
Certifications & Licenses
Upload everything relevant
Food handler cards, alcohol service permits (TIPS/ServSafe), state barber licenses — every certification you upload adds credibility and unlocks more shift types.
Keep them up to date
Expired certs get flagged. Set a calendar reminder to renew and re-upload before they lapse. An expired cert can temporarily lock you out of certain roles.

Many food handler and alcohol service certifications can be completed online in a few hours for under $20. They're worth it — certified workers get matched to higher-paying shifts.
Availability & Preferences
Set your availability accurately
The matching engine only sends you shifts during your available windows. If your availability is too narrow, you'll miss opportunities. If it's too broad, you'll get matches you can't actually work.
Update it regularly
Life changes. If your schedule shifts week to week, spend 30 seconds updating your availability. Stale availability = missed matches or declined shifts (which hurts your score).
Set your commute radius
Be realistic about how far you're willing to travel. A 45-minute commute for a 4-hour shift might not be worth it. Set your radius and the algorithm handles the rest.
Building Your Reliability Score
Show up. Every time.
Your reliability score is the single most important factor in how many shifts you see. No-shows and late cancellations tank your score. Consistent attendance builds it up.
Arrive early
Showing up 10-15 minutes before your shift starts signals professionalism. Businesses notice. Check-in on time and your reliability score benefits.
Only accept shifts you'll complete
It's tempting to accept everything, but canceling after confirming hurts your score more than not accepting at all. Be selective and follow through.
Get great ratings
After every shift, businesses rate you. Consistently high ratings unlock premium shifts with boosted pay rates. Treat every shift like a job interview.
